Pharmacy Technician General Description
This position is responsible for providing patients with friendly, efficient and timely delivery of prescribed medications. Includes communication with insurance companies and involvement with problem solving and troubleshooting.

Pharmacy Technician Essential Duties
340b Processes
a. Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, 340B eligibility, and safety.
b. Maintain knowledge of 340B program and compliance regulations.
Customer Service
a. Provide positive impression, through words and tone, to patients, visitors, and employees presenting to the clinic areas.
b. Actively engages and finds ways to assist by interacting face to face with public and staff.
Standard Pharmacy Operations
a. Operate cash register, handle cash and other tenders of payment such as vouchers, debit and credit cards, and balance registers.
b. Answer telephone, respond to questions and requests, and seek guidance from a coworker or supervisor, if assistance is needed.
c. Receive patient prescriptions and data entry.
d. Accurately count and fill prescriptions.
e. Bill and, if necessary, troubleshoot rejected prescription insurance claims.
f. Assist in ringing up and delivering medications to patients’ curbside.
Complete pharmacy delivery duties as needed, including:
a. Work with pharmacy staff to prepare and ensure prescriptions leave the pharmacy at the appropriate time and are delivered to the designated location requested;
b. Transport and deliver medication to patients in a safe and secure manner;
c. Maintain delivery log of activities per policy and procedure, which may include checking and/or logging patient identification, operating the pharmacy delivery app, and utilizing the Verizon Fleet software and dashcam tracker;
d. Report status and any problems to Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist on duty and report it in correct documents;
e. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, as well as the ability to work under limited supervision;
f. Plan and navigate their own delivery routes using the pharmacy delivery app and basic internet map programs such as Mapquest;
g. Operate delivery vehicle safely and per traffic laws;
h. Obtain payment and proof of delivery through use of pharmacy delivery app per policy and procedure.
Pharmacy Inventory
a. Order and receive drug inventory and supplies. Verify quantities received to invoices.
Assist with the completion of inventory processes per the Pharmacy Inventory Management Protocol
Prescription Savings Programs (PSP) – includes Purple Card discount, Americares, Direct Relief, and Drug Manufacturer Patient Assistance Programs (MAP)
a. Check in, store, & process MAP medication received from drug manufacturers timely and accurately
b. Request new MAP prescriptions and renew expired MAP prescriptions per MAP Collaborative Practice agreement when needed.
c. Gather information needed to complete the resigning of MAP applications per Pharmacy Support Specialist’s instructions on coversheet.
d. Assist with MAP problem solving as necessary including calling patients and manufacturers.
e. Manage MAP medications that have not been picked up within 35 days by destroying medication if necessary and updating patient profiles in PioneerRx and TPC as needed.
f. Assist Pharmacy Tech 1 as necessary with ordering medication inventory from Americares and Direct Relief.
g. Managing and tracking medication inventory from Americares and Direct Relief.
h. Communicate effectively with Pharmacy Support Specialist, providers, Pharmacy Tech 1, and/or Care Coordinators regarding all medication assistance programs.
i. Communicate effectively with patients regarding all prescription savings programs.
SimpleSync
a. Facilitate the enrollment of patients into SimpleSync by educating them and completing the authorization form.
b. Manage assigned patients
Operate Rapid Pak adherencence packaging system
Maintain accurate med lists from all sources (including Prescription Savings Programs) in PioneerRx, Athena, and TPC.
Assist Pharmacy Tech 1 with daily Adherence Calls.
Assist Pharmacists and Pharmacy Tech 1 with MTM completion.
Assist with completion of pharmacy daily checklist tasks.
Perform all duties, services and documentation in full compliance with organization policies and procedures.
Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Pharmacy Technician Skills Required
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public.
Understands math concepts such as percentages, algebra, ratios, and fractions for necessary pharmaceutical calculations.
Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with staff, patients, insurance companies, and vendors.
Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize workload.
Effective and efficient time management, including arriving to work prepared and on-time and timely completion of work.
Computer Literacy and ability to read and comprehend written information.
Pharmacy Technician Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent;
Valid Kansas Pharmacy Tech License;
Must have and maintain CPR certification;
Valid Kansas Driver’s license,
Current auto insurance,
1-2 years of experience;
National PTCB or ExCPT Certification required and maintain certification for employees hired after July 1, 2015.
